How To Measure Wrist Circumference: The Most Accurate Way

Sooner or later we all come to a situation where we need information about the size of our wrist. Whether you are buying a new fancy bracelet or a strap for your wristwatch, this information is of key importance for choosing the size. For this job we need elastic measuring tape. If you don’t already have it in your home, you can easily find it at a hobby shop or local grocery store. The measurement procedure is as follows:

Place the beginning of the measuring tape in the middle of your wrist just below the wrist bone as shown in the picture. Now wrap the tape around your wrist until it overlaps the beginning of the tape. Read and record the value at the fold point as it represents the exact value of your wrist circumference. In our example, the wrist circumference is 152 mm / 5.98″. The elastic measuring tape must be wrapped tightly around the wrist, but not too tightly. You must not allow the measuring tape to cut into the skin, or to crease the skin due to pressure.

And that is it! You have learned how to measure wrist circumference in the most accurate way. Now you can choose a bracelet based on the circumference of your wrist and whether you like a loose or tight fit. Keep in mind that the size of your wrist can change due to excessive weight gain or loss or in cases of certain diseases. In that case, repeat the procedure and measure a new value. There are other ways you can measure your wrist circumference, but that’s a topic for another post.
